To end February and kick off March what better way than to showcase an amazing human. Mariya Russell is the first black female chef to receive a Michelin Star ⭐️! Only having the joy of one evening with her I can tell her energy and spirit is just as vibrant as the flavors of her food.  It really was my pleasure to capture these images and watch her and her husband Garrett Russell bust their moves in the kitchen.

A special mahalo to The Palmwood on Kauai for allowing me to be a part of such a special dinner. When you see strong powerful women come together you know change is on the horizon. This gorgeous secluded bed and breakfast stands for a much bigger causes than peace while you drink your coffee.

As a photographer I try to stay out of the way and behind the scenes. I don't want to change or alter the vibe. Events like this you want to capture details but don't want to take too much time capturing photos of the food because the guests want the food fresh, this is not your "food bloggers" photo shoot. Be fast on your toes, get that shot and let the guests enjoy.

This place, these people, they are bringing change to areas we need it most, and I can't wait to see the future.
